A careful evaluation of the sensitivity of a patient’s sense of hearing can help determine the type and degree of hearing loss so that the appropriate treatment can be administered.

Tinnitus is a continuous or intermittent ringing in the ears. Most tinnitus comes from damage to microscopic endings of the hearing nerve in the inner ear. Other causes include allergies, high or low blood pressure, tumor, diabetes, thyroid problems, head or neck injuries, and medications.

ALDs help those with hearing loss overcome background noise and poor acoustics by amplifying and clarifying what one wishes to hear. They can be used for personal one-on-one conversations or classroom/conference type situations.

An earplug is a device inserted into the ear canal to protect the ear from loud noises, excessive wind or the intrusion of foreign bodies including water. Custom earplugs help reduce discomfort and improve protection and performance from the generic “one size fits all” earplug.

Earmolds can assist in reducing feedback in hearing aids and better clarity in the presence of excess background noise. They are custom made to help protect the ear and improve comfort and efficiency.
