Solutions for Snoring & Sleep Apnea in East Tennessee

At Greater Knoxville ENT, we understand the impact that snoring and sleep apnea can have on your life and overall well-being. Whether it’s obstructed breathing or simply not logging enough restful hours, sleep issues demand attention. Our ENT specialists are dedicated to identifying the root cause of your sleep disturbances and crafting a personalized treatment plan. For those in East Tennessee grappling with sleep apnea, snoring, or other sleep disorders, we offer three innovative sleep treatment options: Inspire® Therapy Sleep Apnea Innovation, Bilevel Positive Airway Pressure (BiPAP), and Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP).

1. Inspire® Therapy Sleep Apnea Innovation:
Inspire® Therapy is a revolutionary approach to treating obstructive sleep apnea. Unlike traditional methods, Inspire® Therapy works from within your body and with your natural breathing process. It involves a small device implanted during a minor surgical procedure. This device monitors your breathing patterns while you sleep and delivers mild stimulation to key airway muscles, keeping the airway open. It’s controlled by a small handheld remote, allowing you to turn the device on before bed and off when you wake up. This therapy is particularly suitable for patients who have struggled with the discomfort or inconvenience of CPAP.

2. Bilevel Positive Airway Pressure (BiPAP):
BiPAP is a non-invasive therapy for sleep apnea that uses a machine to help you breathe more easily during sleep. It delivers pressurized air through a mask to your airways. The key difference between BiPAP and CPAP lies in the air pressure. While CPAP provides a continuous stream of air, BiPAP provides two levels of pressure: higher pressure when you inhale and lower pressure when you exhale. This can be particularly beneficial for patients who find it difficult to breathe out against the continuous pressure of a CPAP machine.

3. Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP):
CPAP is one of the most common and effective treatments for sleep apnea. It involves wearing a mask over the nose and/or mouth while sleeping. The mask is connected to a machine that delivers a continuous stream of air into the nostrils. This air pressure keeps the airway open and prevents snoring and apnea. While CPAP is highly effective, getting used to the machine can take time, and our team at Greater Knoxville ENT is committed to helping our patients through this adjustment period.

Comprehensive Evaluation:
Our approach begins with a thorough evaluation to understand the specific nature of your sleep disorder. We conduct comprehensive tests to determine the most effective course of treatment.
