Meet JoAnn E. Kerwin, AuD
JoAnn E. Kerwin, AuD has been an audiologist for over 17 years. Following active duty service in the Air Force, she attended the University of Tennessee and obtained an undergraduate degree in Music Education and Communication Disorders. In 2007, JoAnn graduated from University of Tennessee with a Doctorate in Audiology and specialized in pediatrics, cochlear implants, noise induced hearing loss, and hearing aid manufacturing.
JoAnn’s experience in music drew initially drew her to Audiology because she could not imagine not having the ability to hear things that matter most to you. JoAnn consults with patients on the current and past status of their hearing, finds the best hearing solution for their listening difficulties or tinnitus, fits appropriate amplification using evidence based practices, and more importantly — follows up to ensure patients are satisfied with their progress in their hearing treatment plan. The most enjoyable part of her work is helping patients find a solution that not only improves their hearing, but enhances their participation in things that matter, like conversation with loved ones in social settings.
As a veteran and having worked at the VA, JoAnn understands the impact that brain injuries and noise induced hearing loss can have on an individual. Additionally, she has worked for a cochlear implant and hearing aid manufacturer which has given her a deeper understanding of the differences in hearing aid and cochlear implant technologies.
In her leisure time, JoAnn enjoys traveling, music, interior design, attending Lacrosse tournaments and mountain bike races with her husband and two sons.
